Many cake makers supply wedding cake stands as part of their service. They will deliver the cake themselves and put it together on the appropriate stand. But don’t assume that they are going to provide this level of service always check before hand. You may also be able to specify the colour finish of your stand i.e. silver or gold and accessories such as a matching cake knife.
Hiring a Stand
If you are purchasing your cake via a major high street store (this has become increasingly popular in the U.K. over the last 12 months) make sure that your venue has the correct type of stand for your cake. If your venue does not supply the cake stand there are plenty of hire companies on the web that will send you a stand out by courier mail. If you are doing this don’t forget to liaise with your venue staff and ask them if they are happy to put the stand and cake together for you.

The two most popular wedding cake stands are: the three tiered stands that position each tier of the wedding cake separately allowing decoration on every tier. The wedding cake stand base, this is an ornate stand that just lifts the cake off the table.
Not forgetting the little cup cakes and boxed wedding cakes, as these are now very popular types of wedding cakes there are plenty of designs of stands. Many of these tiered stands are made from acrylic, which makes them light for carriage.
